The Down Under Club of Winnipeg, Inc. (DUCW)

The Down Under Club has been active in Manitoba for almost 60 years. We have approximately 170 members who are originally from Australia and New Zealand, as well as Canadians who have some connection to or a deep love of the lands down under.

The DUCW have monthly meetings and a host of activities, and continue to celebrate special ‘down under’ days – ANZAC Day, Australia Day, Waitangi Day. Our most popular activities in Winnipeg are formal dinners, get togethers, cricket matches, and lots of barbecues!

Our monthly newsletter – The Southern Yarn – is jam-packed with a slew of articles, family-friendly events and news from down under.

Over the past few years, the Club has seen an increase in membership, including families with young children, as a new generation begins to settle in Winnipeg. This is an exciting time for us, and the new members help keep the excitement and enthusiasm that has attributed to the overall success of the Club.

The Club will continue to build on the foundation of the past, promote the culture, heritage and lifestyle of places down under, and proudly showcase our respective homelands.

The majority of club gatherings are held upstairs at The Scandinavian Cultural Centre, located at 764 Erin Street, Winnipeg, MB R3G 2W4 Executive meetings and other events are held at other locations, including members' homes. Zoom around to find your way there.
